On the first Tuesday of each month, Nazareth helps to prepare and serve a community meal (in partnership throughout the month with several other local churches) at the First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.
If you are interested in helping our neighbors in need by assisting with these meals, email Barb Burbridge at email@example.com.

IOWA HEARTLAND HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Since 1990, Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity builds simple, affordable homes with Habitat families and volunteers. We serve Black Hawk, Bremer and Butler Counties. Habitat for Humanity is responsive to the discontent of knowing we have so many neighbors who do not have a home.
In 2017, Nazareth worked together with Habitat for Humanity to build the "Naz House", a home built at 1217 Western Avenue in Waterloo. The partner family was able to move into their new home by Christmas!
The vision of the Job Foundation is "all children achieving financial success." In 2007, the Financial Stewardship Mentoring Program was launched. Today, just as in the beginning, the program provides participating students financial awards for good grades while educating them on financial practices and requiring them to save at least 50% of their earnings. In the spring of 2009, tutoring was added as a service as the organization hired its first employee, a graduate of the program. With the addition of tutoring, dramatic results have been seen with some students greatly improving their academic scores in a single quarter and teachers reporting improved behavior and effort. In 2012, Veridian Credit Union began partnering with us to provide students with checking accounts for their supervised shopping trips, enhancing the learning process and furthering the goal of financial inclusion for our budding financial stewards. The commitment to providing financial stewardship training for both our low-income students and our volunteer families’ children (who tend to have higher incomes) was formally adopted in 2015. For more information about the Job Foundation and/or how you can become a member, go to their website at thejobfoundation.org.

Also known as Love INC, their mission is to mobilize the Church to transform lives and communities in the name of Christ. This mobilization inspires us to lead beyond our walls.
NAZARETH FOOD AND ESSENTIALS PANTRY
In partnership with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank and Love INC, the Nazareth Food and Essentials Pantry provides essentials (personal hygiene products and household cleaning supplies) and food to those in need in the Cedar Valley throughout the year.
At the Food and Essentials Pantry, clients (who make appointments via Love INC) shop for their own food and essentials. 532 appointments were hosted at our pantry in 2016. The food and essentials come from the Northeast Iowa Food Bank and through donations by Nazareth community members. More than fifty Nazareth volunteers donate their time and energy into keeping the pantry running by shopping, packing food boxes and putting away incoming orders.
Financial donations (to the Nazareth Good Samaritan Fund) as well as donations of food, locally grown fresh produce (in season) and household essentials are accepted on a regular basis.
Please contact the director of the Nazareth Food and Essentials Pantry, Lindsay McDonald, if you have any questions.
The Nazareth Gardens were planted on Sunday, May 15, by ten faithful servants who got their hands dirty for the sake of Christ and others. They planted potatoes, onions, squash, cucumbers, watermelon, miniature pumpkins, green beans, peppers, tomatoes and brussel sprouts. Special thanks to the Thrivent Action Team, whose generous grant of $250 paid for the seeds and plants that were put into the ground.
The gardens are located in the 300 block of Lincoln Street in the Cedar Falls Community Gardens just north of Gateway Park.
Throughout the spring and summer, all are invited to stop by to help week and water the gardens.
All of the produce grown in the gardens will be given away through the Nazareth Food Pantry.
For more information on the NAZ Gardens, please email Pastor Denny Hanson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
