Bible Study Groups

Circles, seven small groups associated with Women of the ELCA (WELCA), meet at various times and places on the second Wednesday and Thursday of the month for Bible study and fellowship. The 2011-12 study will focus on the Book of Mark.

A Senior Adult Women’s Bible study meets bi-weekly on the first and third Mondays of the month from 9:00-10:30 a.m. in Room 158.

A Bible Study meets at 10:30 a.m. in Room 156 on the first and third Thursdays of every month.

A Women’s Breakfast Group meets at various locations the second Tuesday of every month at 8:30 a.m.

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meets the second and fourth Thursdays of the month during the school year at 9:00 a.m. in Room 155. Meetings feature speakers, devotions, craft projects, and refreshments. Expectant mothers welcome. 

Service Opportunities

Kits & Quilts Workers meet on the third Monday (9:00 a.m. - Noon) and the Tuesday immediately following in Bethel Hal (9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.)l. The group makes quilts for Lutheran World Relief and Bremwood Children’s Home in Waverly and assembles baby care, personal care, school, and sewing kits for LWR. Women, men, and children (age 10 or older with adult supervision) are welcome to help for the entire day or part of the day.

The Caring Heart Quilters meet every Tuesday from 9:00 a.m.-Noon in Rooms 221-223 to make quilts for Lutheran Bible Camp auctions.

A Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 9:00 a.m. in Room 158 to knit and crochet shawls for people in need of prayer and comfort. The group also makes baby baptism blankets, hats for chemo patients, and teddy bears for sick children.

A "Sunshine" group helps with funeral luncheons.

The Bremwood Children’s Home Auxiliary meets in Waverly four times a year.

Church Women United (CWU) meets four times a year at various churches in the community. Their ecumenical worship services and fellowship opportunities include World Day of Prayer, May Friendship Day, and World Community Day.

NewAldaya Lifescapes (formerly The Cedar Falls Lutheran Home) continues to need cookies for special events. Volunteers are also needed for a variety of activities.
